31. August 2020

“The key activities of the project will be the upgrading of existing handicraft products, the development of new ones and the appropriate presentation, marketing and interpretation of the rich handicraft heritage and knowledge.”

At the end of June 2020, the results of the 5th public tender of the Agency for Agricultural Markets and Rural Development were known. Out of all received project ideas, 9 cooperation projects between Local Action Groups (LAGs) were approved at the level of the whole of Slovenia. Among them was also the project Roko – delci, which was submitted by the Local Action Group of the Loka Mountains together with partners. The Škofja Loka area thus obtained EUR 90,006.14 in additional funds for its implementation. At the level of partnership of Slovenian LAGs, we connected with soome other LAGs from Slovenia. The partnership at the level of our LAG is connected by the Development Agency Sora d.o.o., the Loka’s Museum of Škofja Loka and the Regional Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship of Škofja Loka.

The project will start in October this year (2020) and will end in February 2023. It was created due to the identified common needs and opportunities in the field of documenting traditional handicraft skills, their transfer, upgrading with professional guidelines and presentation and marketing of handicrafts. All LAGs participating in this project have an active handicraft center in their area. In the Škofja Loka region, this is the Arts & Crafts Centre DUO Škofja Loka, which operates under the auspices of the Development Agency Sora d.o.o. The key activities of the project will be the upgrading of existing handicraft products, the development of new ones and the appropriate presentation, marketing and interpretation of the rich handicraft heritage and knowledge. In the Škofja Loka region, two handicrafts will be brought to the fore – wicker and wool processing.
