The Krmelj Blacksmith’s shop has existed since 1870, and has been located in Log above Škofja Loka since 1926, when blacksmith Matevž Krmelj bought an old mill and built a blacksmith’s workshop.
In this blacksmith’s shop, products are not forged in large quantities. Each individual product is made of the highest quality steel and forged with a hammer. The latter further improves the quality of steel and significantly affects the excellence of finished products. A special feature of the Krmelj blacksmith’s shop are knives made of Damascus steel and rustically processed forged products.
Master craftsman Jože Krmelj is the recipient of the award for special achievements in handicrafts Zlata vitica 2012.
