JELKA – New Year’s pop-up store in Metalka

During holiday shopping frenzy a New Year’s pop-up store Jelka will open its doors on the first floor of the business building Metalka in the center of Ljubljana. It will offer fresh sustainable products of Slovenian designers.

Creators of Ljubljana’s workshop Levo will host Škofja Loka’s Kreativnice, ceramic products Zanamizo, Pečeno pohištvo, Kozarec Zvonko and designer Špela Ambrož. There will be all of the New Year’s Eve necessities to look at and shop for and to be put under a tree (Jelka): ceramic dishware, vases, ornaments, unusual objects, placemats, scarfs, pillows, gloves, wooden shelves, photos and tapestry.

Visit us in the week of 17th and 24th December, between 11 am and 7 pm and get your gifts guilt free. By shopping there you’re supporting socially engaging designing and local young designers. Opening of the store is on Friday, 17th of December at 5 pm. We’ll celebrate the beginning of holiday season with cinnamon cookies and hot wine. Come and join socializing with presents under Jelka!

Under the name AMUSE, Anja Musek creates unique fashion products such as scarves, bags, cothing, jewelry and more. Everything is made by hand in more-than-a-thousand years old wet felting technique. It is characterized by modern, minimalist design and the use of natural materials – in addition to wool, silk, linen, cotton… Anja Musek lives and works in the old town of Škofja Loka, where you can visit her in her studio and exhibition and sales gallery.

As a designer, Lili Panjtar developed in the textile industry, in the Odeja textile factory, where she worked as a designer and project manager for 20 years. She has received several professional awards for her authorial collections and comprehensive fair appearances. Since 2013 she has been self-employed and works in her LILA STUDIO in Škofja Loka. In addition to graphic, product and textile design for individuals and companies, she also tackles unique design and handicrafts. She is active in the Arts & Crafts Center DUO Škofja Loka and in the modern textile center Kreativnice. Recently, she has also been creating in various techniques of designing natural materials (textiles, paper), while researching old techniques of processing and dyeing textile fibers (wet felting, hand dyeing with indigo, primitive hand printing …).

Under her brand Mojdom, Nina Vastl Štefe designs and manufactures home textiles from natural materials. The products are simple and clean. She dyes the materials by hand, using plant dyes as well, and sews and prints the products by hand. She makes quilts and woolen blankets, bedding, tablecloths, placemats and other tableware, decorative pillows and curtains, as well as carpets. She uses only natural materials such as flax, wool, raw silk, nettle, hemp and ramie for her products. In design, she follows the idea of pure thought and pure form. Nina’s designs are simple and at the same time multi-layered and delicate. She finds direct contact with materials and working with her hands important. She loves everyday life and nature. She sees artistic inspiration in nature and looks for wild plants in it, which give food, colors and fiber …
