After graduating from the Secondary Technical School in Kranj, majoring in weaving, Silva Horvat got a job at the Dekorativna decorative fabric factory in Ljubljana. She was employed there as a fabric designer for 15 years. During her years at the Dekorativna fabric factory, she completed her studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, majoring in Textile Design.
Since 1985, she has been working as a freelance cultural worker. She is now retired but still active. She is mainly engaged in original tapestry and textile design. Unique hand-woven products are created on her looms – among other things, scarves, tablecloths, placemats, carpets, curtains, metric fabrics, blankets, author’s tapestries. Woven articles of pure wool or of wool combined with other materials.
She is a member of the Association of Designers of Slovenia, the Association of Artists of Škofja Loka and the modern textile center Kreativnice in Škofja Loka.
The website was created as part of the "In Love with Creativity" project. The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.
