Flax cultivation and linen production in Škofja Loka Area

As part of the AlpTextyles project, the Arts and Crafts Centre Škofja Loka opened an exhibition Flax cultivation and linen production in Škofja Loka Area on 20. 3. 2024, which focuses on the tradition of linen production in the Škofja Loka Area.
The exhibition takes us through the history of linen production in the region and the processes from the flax to linen production. In addition to a historical and ethnological view on this handicraft knowledge and skills, the exhibition also shows the use of linen for contemporary products and design. The exhibition presents the work of the Davča Tourist Association, Nina Vastl Štefe, Rozalija Strojan, Lili Panjtar, Vita Ivičič, the Linen Women community and the Kolpa Landscape Park.

Public guided tour of the museum’s linen collection

A part of exhibition you are invited to an accompanying event which we are organising together with the Škofja Loka Museum.
We invite you to a public guided tour of the museum’s linen collection, which will be conducted by curator Mojca Šifrer Bulovec and will take us through the history and processes of linen production in the Škofjelo region.
The public guided tour will take place on Wednesday, 3 April 2024 at 18.00 in the Škofja Loka Museum.
