Nina Vastl Štefe is an architect and textile designer. She has long been involved in the field of textiles, designing and producing unique textiles for the home, but recently she has been focusing on large narrative textile pieces.
Coming from a background in architecture, she has always been interested in materiality and the placement of textile works in space.
In recent years, she has moved from designing functional textiles for the home to focusing primarily on textiles as functional art. In the project Prešita odeja življenja (Quilted Blanket of Life), she creates multifunctional textile pieces dedicated to the stories of individuals, families, or places. Through personal stories, she explores big human questions, identity, history, emotions, and above all, the things that connect us.
